JOYCE JONES MITCHELL

Joyce Jones Mitchell, 74, passed away on Friday afternoon at the Sterling House.
Joyce was born in Wayne County on Sept. 25, 1934, to the late Laney Jones and Nola Hollingsworth Jones. She was married to the late Floyd Mitchell Jr. Joyce retired with 22 years of service from Southern Bell Telephone Company. She was a faithful supporter of events in the Rosewood Community and sporting events at Rosewood High School. Joyce was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Melody Mitchell, of Goldsboro; her sister, Peggy Williams, of Wilmington; and her mother-in-law, Lois Mitchell, of Goldsboro.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Edmond Mitchell III, and her sister, Pauline Jarman.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the athletic department at Rosewood High School, 900 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
