Merle Hinnant Davis, 81, Fremont, died Sunday.
A graveside service will be conducted today at 11 in Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont.
Surviving are three daughters, Becky Rose and husband, Bruce of Wilson, Janice Davis of Fremont, and Cynthia Jackson and husband, Mickey of Chapel Hill; one son, Fred Davis and friend, Sally Wilson of Wilson; five grandchildren, Debra Davis of Apex, Amy Davis Dey of Raleigh, Morgan Bailey of Wilmington, Leah Bailey Fox of Raleigh, and Gregory Jackson of Chapel Hill; one brother, Reuben Davis of Kinston; two sisters-in-law, Louise Davis of Wilson and Mildred Davis of Baltimore, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews; and special pet, Roxie, his constant companion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Lee Davis Davis; parents, Fred and Mattie Hinnant Davis; sister, Iris Yelverton; and brothers, Jonathan Davis, Osborne Davis and Carl Davis.
