MOUNT OLIVE — Louvenia Williams Jones, 79, of 2336 Garner’s Chapel Road, died Sunday afternoon at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the John Blaney Williams Family Cemetery near the home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday night from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., and at other times at the residence.

Mrs. Jones, known as “Sissy” to many, was born and raised on the family farm on which she lived her entire life. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife, and was a member of Daly’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She was a member of the 1947 graduating class of B.F. Grady High School, where she was named High School Queen. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Blaney and Jennie Wilkins Williams; a sister, Celia W. Howard; and six brothers, Wiley Williams, James Cicero Williams, Henry Troy Williams, Jasper Williams, Jesse Willard Williams and Judge Frank Williams.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Linwood E. Jones of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mack E. and Joan Best Jones, and Jimmy R. and Debbie Sholar Jones; a daughter and son-in-law, Pattie “Susie” J. and Bobby Poythress, all of Mount Olive; five grandchildren, Robert L. Jones and wife, Erica of Pink Hill, David M. Jones and wife, Marie, Donna J. Williams and husband, Jonathan, William R. Jones and wife, April, and Jon-Blaney Jones, all of Mount Olive; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
