OTHA LAIL DYSON

Otha Lail Dyson, 86, formerly of Goldsboro, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at the home of a daughter in Matthews. Born Sept. 23, 1922 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late James P. and Mattie Vanhorne Lail.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel in China Grove, conducted by J. Wesley Jarman, Pastor, Parkeast Church of God, Goldsboro and Gerry Blood, Pastor, Engelwood Assembly of God, Rocky Mount, and the Rev. Doug Carpenter. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.

Mrs. Dyson had been a seamstress for various textile mills and was a member of Parkeast Church of God, Goldsboro. In addition to being a retired minister's wife, she was also a great seamstress and a loving, wonderful mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, she was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Odell Dyson.

Those left with treasured memories include her husband of 68 years, the Rev. Odell Lonnie Dyson of Goldsboro; her son, Ronnie Dyson and wife, Carolyn, of Rocky Mount; daughters, Betty Wheeler and husband, Floyd, of Matthews and Priscilla Butler and husband, Robert, of Greenville; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 until 7:30 at the funeral home. At other times, the family be at the Wheeler home, 309 E. Circle St. in Matthews.
