SELMA -- William "Bill" W. Barnes Jr., 71, Selma, died Sunday at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
The deceased requested that no formal funeral service be held. Family visitation will be held at Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church in Clayton on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Born June 17, 1937, in Wayne County, Mr. Barnes was the son of the late William and Alice Barnes of Goldsboro.
Mr. Barnes was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force. He was the former owner of Skyland Chevrolet in Snow Hill.
Surviving are his son, William "Chip" W. Barnes of New Bern; two daughters, Vanessa Murray and husband, Al of Snow Hill, and Kim Clifton and husband, Dewey of Clayton; a sister, Nan Montague and husband, Bobby of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren; former wife, Peggy Barnes of Snow Hill; nieces and nephew; many special friends; and special canine companion, Nikki.
Arrangements are being handled by Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service of Snow Hill.
