MAE D. WILLIAMS

Mae Davis Williams, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Hardison and the Rev. Merrill Davis officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery on Highway 70 W., Princeton with the Rev. Bill Cotton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 1922 Salem Church Road or at 601 Fedelon Trail, the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

Mrs. Williams was born June 28, 1912, in Wayne County to the late Lemuel E. Davis and Mary Howell Davis.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Voyad E. Davis, Travis "Shab" Davis, Luther "Pat" Davis, Lloyd Lemuel "Tunk" Davis, and sisters, Selma D. Gufford, Eva D. Elmore, and Ellen D. Sullivan.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Leslie G. Williams; a daughter, Joyce Faye Williams Pearman and husband, William Pearman, of Goldsboro; her granddaughters, Tamara P. Ward and husband, Dr. Steven Ward and Amanda P. Snavely and husband, Jeff Snavely, and her great-granddaughter, Mazzy Bijou Snavely of Raleigh. She is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy D. and John Holt of Kinston and Esther D. and Audrey Sasser of Patetown; and many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for 60 years. A faithful homemaker, wife and loving mother and grandmother, she and her husband celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008.
