Leona Simmons, 57, 7113 Dew Drop Way, Clinton, Md., formerly of Wayne County, died Thursday in South River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, Md.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at noon at McIntyre Funeral Home Chapel in Goldsboro. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
She had two sisters and one brother who preceded her in death.
Leona received her education in North Carolina public schools and graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1970. She was employed at the Department of H.U.D. for 36 years.
She is survived by her only child, Kenneth Lee Simmons and daughter-in-law, Magdalere of Cibolo, Texas; one granddaughter, Kennethia (Akoya); four grandsons, Alexander, Kenneth (K.J.), Christen (Coole) and Brandon; four sisters, Pearlene Simmons, Nancy Bunn, Marie Braswell, all of Goldsboro, and Bessie Jordan (Bill) of Clinton, Md.; two brothers, Wilbert Simmons Jr. (Betty) of Clayton, Bill Simmons Jr (Bernice) of Dudley; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at 203 Whitfield Drive where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
