GREENVILLE -- Robert Edward Grantham Sr., 87, passed away Wednesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Muston officiating. Interment will be at the family farm in the Grantham Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at his home.

Mr. Grantham was born in Wayne County on Oct. 7, 1921, to the late James Clarence Grantham and Nannie Rose Grantham. He was a longtime farmer in the Grantham Community and was a member of Selah Christian Church. Mr. Grantham had been involved in his community as a member of the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department and with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 59. He had served on the Board of Directors of Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Grantham is survived by his wife, Edna Earle Bryan Grantham; his son, Robert E. "Bud" Grantham Jr. and wife, Angie of Goldsboro; his daughters, Mary Lynn Chase of LaGrange and Rose Zibelin and husband, Mike of Ferguson; his sisters, Rose Marie Rose of Goldsboro, Janet G. Pearson of Clinton and Joyce G. Lamb of Engold; and his grandchildren, Emily Zibelin, Chris Zibelin, Matthew Chase, Melissa Chase, Kaysey Grantham and Robert E. "Bo" Grantham III; and two great-grandchildren, Odyn Peterson and Gunnar Peterson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Grantham and Donald Grantham; and his sister, Sarah Johnson.
