Died Nov. 30, 2008

Wallace Nathaniel "Nate" Ford Sr., 78, 105 S. Slocumb St., peacefully departed this life at his residence on Sunday evening.

Eulogistic services will be conducted Saturday at noon at Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Headquarters with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Elmwood Cemetery.

He was preceded in the silent halls of death by his parents, Willie and Minnie Ford; son, Levarn Moore; grandchild, Reginald Edwards Jr.; and brother, Roosevelt Ford Sr.

He leaves to mourn precious memories his beloved wife, Daisy Whitfield Ford of the home; five daughters, Barbara (Ronnie) Smith of Goldsboro, Shirley Edwards of Hopewell, Va., Christine Cooley of Goldsboro, Gladys (Curtis) Bynum of Goldsboro, Linda Crichlow of Fayetteville; five sons, Devon Ford of St. Louis, Mo., Alvin (Pamela) Ford of Stafford, Va., Calvin Ford of Goldsboro, Wallace N. Ford Jr., and Michael (Valeria) Ford of Dudley; three sisters, Nixa May (Mance) Wiley of Wilson, Verna Belle Williams of Goldsboro, Elizabeth Belton of Philadelphia, Pa.; two aunts, Gracie Best and Beatrice Joyner; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries with the family present to receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
