PHILLIP M. TURNIPSEED

Dec. 22, 1954-Nov. 29, 2008

Phillip Marion "Phil" Turnipseed, 53, 231 N. Marion Drive, passed away suddenly Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jenny Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, N.C., 27603.

Phil was born in Wake County on Dec. 22, 1954, to June Cooper Turnipseed and the late Frank Marion Turnipseed.

He graduated from Cary High School in 1973, and received his mechanical engineering degree from N.C. State University in 1978. He immediately began work with CP&L, now known as Progress Energy. Phil has worked at the Cape Fear Plant, Roxboro Plant, Lee Plant and was presently the Lead Engineer, Balance of Plant Systems FGD East Region Engineering of Progress Energy.

The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from noon to 2 p.m. at L. Harold Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, N.C., 27545.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Brenda Fore Turnipseed; daughter, Kelly Turnipseed Alcock and husband, Alan Randall Alcock of Raleigh; precious granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Alcock; aunts, Betty Jean Turnipseed of Wendell, Faye Cooper Gamble and husband, Roland of Newport; uncle, T.P. Gore of High Point; mother-in-law, Jean Kelly Fore of Sanford; special in-laws, Dr. Lavonne K. Fore and husband, Mack of Rome, Ga., George T. Fore Jr. and his friend, Joyce of Raleigh, John B. Fore and his wife, Cynthia of Travelers Rest, S.C., Ann F. Howell and her husband, Wes of Sanford; and a host of special cousins, nieces, nephews and extended families.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA.
