Margie Marie Howell, lovingly known by her family and church friends as "Mother Margie Howell" since the mid 1980s, 63, of 1319 Davis Mill, Fremont, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at noon at the New Daniel Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 789 Moye Road, Fremont, 27830. Burial will follow at Fremont Cemetery.

Margie was born April 17, 1945, in Wayne County to the late Milford and Cora Wells Howell.

Mother Margie Howell was a faithful and loving servant at New Daniel Chapel Church working out her soul salvation. She was a member of the choir, mother's board and a committed kitchen worker, serving in the position of president. Almost creating her own nursery, Margie kept plenty of babies in her lifetime while raising her own children. Margie loved making beautiful quilts and canned some of the tastiest foods in the world.

Left to cherish her loving memories are six children and children-in-law, Thomas and Gloria Howell of Dudley, Robin V. Howell of Leesburg, Va., Jessica Parker of Goldsboro, Michelle Howell of Greensboro, Beverly Howell of the home, and Michael and Tasha Howell of Greensboro; five sisters- and brothers-in-law, Doris and Johnny Smith, Frances and Leroy Ruffin, both of Fremont, Shirley and Donnell Best of Landover, Md., Letha Faye and Stewart Ralph of Charlotte, and Dianne H. and Wallace Spellman of Pikeville; 10 brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Lorraine Wells, Bobby and Elizabeth Howell, and Johnnie Howell, all of Fremont, Raymond and Francine Howell, Larry and Claudette Howell of Wilson, Earvin and Carolyn Howell, "Jimmy" and Sheryl Howell, and David Howell, all of Fremont, and Robert and Carolyn Howell of Goldsboro; sister-in-law, Shirley Howell; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Howell is preceded in death by a brother, Paul Howell.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Mother Margie Howell, 1319 Davis Mill Road, Fremont, N.C. 27830.
