Died Nov. 25, 2008

ROSEWOOD -- Brenda Kay Boyette Garris, of Rosewood, died Tuesday at home with her family.

The family will receive friends at Rosewood First Baptist Church on Sunday from 12:30 until 2 p.m., followed by a service to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. The Rev. Larry Bostian will officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Kay was born to the late Henry and Mary Boyette of Sampson County. A devoted wife, mother and sister, she also taught pre-school and elementary for nearly a decade. Her faith called her to serve her church and her community in various capacities for her entire life.

She is survived by her husband, John Allen Garris, daughter, Mary Suzanne Hilbert and son-in-law, Wayne Hilbert, of Ramstein Air Base in Germany, daughter, Deborah Meek and son-in-law, David Meek, of Rosewood, daughter, Wendy Cox of the home, daughter, Amy Goode and son-in-law, John Goode, of Midway, daughter, Kristie Garris of the home; three sisters, Helen Long and husband, Alan, of Reigelwood, Lynette Harrison of Sims and Kathy Radford and husband, Doug, of Knightdale; her brother, Gene Boyette and wife, Kay, of Clinton; and seven grandchildren.

Her love and strength will endure with those she touched during her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol B. Cox.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. Hwy. 581 S., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
