KATHLEEN W, WALKER

MCLEANSVILLE -- Mrs. Kathleen Wilson Walker, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.

Kathleen was born in Oxford on June 24, 1923. She was the first of four children born to the late Posey G. and Lucy W. Wilson.

Her kind and generous nature was a blessing to her family, friends and many stray animals fortunate enough to have passed by her door.

Kathleen was employed by Western Electric for 27 years until her retirement in 1981.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a love for music that started when she was a young girl while playing in her family orchestra and later was the church pianist for many years at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Greensboro. She loved playing the piano for family gatherings. In her retirements years, she enjoyed traveling, by car, with her husband and over a period of years, visited 49 states and Canada.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Kenneth D. Walker; sons Ron Walker and wife, Diane, of Summerfield; Don Walker and wife, Dianne "Dare", of McLeansville; daughter Vickie Ratcliff and husband, Joe, of Jamestown; and four grandchildren: Justin and Adam Ratcliff, Ryan Walker and Lindsay Walker.

Also surviving are her brother, Donald Wilson, and wife, Lucille, of Fletcher; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Wilson of Greensboro, Jean Hobbs of Goldsboro, Merolin and Shirley Lawrence of Goldsboro, Faye Sutton of LaGrange, Betty Walker of Goldsboro, Berry and Barbara Walker of Goldsboro and Ida Walker of Huntsville, Ala.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Wilson Day, in 1980, and brother, P.G. Wilson Jr., in 2002.

In lieu flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C., 27405.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Teresa Griffin, Anne Batten and all support staff from Hospice for the care and attention given to Kathleen in her final months. We also give out thanks for the support of family members, neighbors and friends during this very difficult time.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 tonight at Forbis and Dick Funeral Services, 1118 N. Elm St., Greensboro, N.C.
