CAPE MARY COURTHOUSE NEW JERSEY -- Merle Bowman (nee King), 89, Cape May Court House, N.J., died peacefully on Tuesday at the Crest Haven Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, N.J., where friends may visit at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.

She was born in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Louis Paschal and Lula Bethel King.

She formerly lived in Secane, Pa. prior to moving to N.J. permanently in 1997. She summered there since 1967. She was a member of the Secane Conservative Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, going to the zoo, and walking the beach and boardwalk with her late husband, John, who died March 24, 2007, walking "Ginger," and most of all spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, James T. (Cynthia) of Glen Riddle, Pa.; three daughters: Mary (Juan) Marquez of Port Clinton, Ohio; Carolyn (Donald) McIntyre of Bethel Park, Pa. and Betty (Wesley) Mathews of Steadman; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, John D. III and William Bowman.
