LYMAN R. MITCHELL

Lyman Royall Mitchell, 71, Durham, was called home after a lengthy battle with cancer on Monday.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Family Cemetery in Rosewood.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1937. A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Bessie Leidy.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Leidy.
He is survived by his wife, Mary McGovern of Aberdeen; three daughters, Robyn Daw of Goldsboro, Brenda Crocker of Corinna, Maine and Cheryl Webster of Palmyra, Maine; two sons, Dennis Mitchell of Tullahoma, Tenn. and Glen Vicnaire of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Kathleen "Kitty" Taylor of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
