WILMINGTON -- John Gary "J.G." Owen Jr., 75, passed away Monday at New Hanover Regional Hospital.
A memorial celebration service will be held at Wilmington Pentecostal Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with visitation at noon in the church fellowship hall with the Rev. Rodney Knowles officiating.
J.G. was the son of Dora Jean Horne and John Gary Owens Sr. of Goldsboro, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by a sister, Mary Olive Owens Weede.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Faulkner; two daughters, Beverly Owens of Wilmington; and a stepson, Eddie Faulkner and wife Tonya of Raleigh. In addition, left to carry on his memory is a brother, Carlyle Owens (Carolyn); three sisters, Doris Huffman (Donald), Joyce Tompkins (Jim) and Candy Smith (Jay). He also had one granddaughter; one step- granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
After cremation, his ashes will be buried at a later time in a private family service.
