Mrs. Beverly Carmack Flora, 67, 605 Park Avenue, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Beverly was born in Wayne County on Aug. 13, 1941, to the late John D. Carmack and Annie Dove Ballinger Carmack. She was married to the late William Linwood "Bill" Flora. Beverly was a 1959 graduate of Goldsboro High School and attended the University of North Carolina School of Social Work and Mount Olive College in the Early Child Development program. She was retired from WAGES as an emergency and homeless specialist. Beverly was a member of First Baptist Church.

Beverly is survived by her daughters, Tammy Flora Nash and husband, Barry of Morehead City and Cynthia Flora Cain of Goldsboro; her granddaughters, Candyce N. Godwin, Hanna D. Cain and Olivia L. Nash; her sister, Bonnie C. Price and husband, Linwood of Greensboro; her stepsister, Edna Earle Edens Vedas of Sumpter, S.C. and her stepbrother, Charles Alton Edens of Homer, La.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Alton J. Edens and her sister, Barbara Ann Carmack.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
