Died Oct. 19, 2008
PINETOPS -- Gene T. Whitley, 62, died Sunday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Webb's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Pinetops Cemetery.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Webb Whitley.
He is survived by a son, Todd Whitely and wife, Michelle of Wilson; daughter, Leslie Whitley Hoggard and husband, Woody of Pinetops; sisters, Mary Ellen Whitley Baker and husband Sherrill of Goldsboro and Sylvia Whitley Pearce and husband Dalton of Macclesfield; and grandchildren Megan Hoggard, Ian Whitley, and Jasmine Houghtaling.
Friends were invited to visit the family on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home of Leslie and Woody Hoggard.
