James "Jim" Charles Wade, 82, Highway U.S. 13 N., passed away Sunday morning at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Visitation will follow at the home of Connie and Gene Dail, 713 Bartlett Road in Pikeville. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Mr. Wade was born in Indiana on Feb. 18, 1926, to the late Owen and Edith Dowell Wade. He was preceded in death by his sister Anne Root. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Jim retired from Dupont after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served in World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Wade; two daughters, Edi Wade of Long Beach, N.C. and Connie Dail and her husband, Gene, of Pikeville; three grandchildren, Kip Brown and his wife, Beverly, Chris Brown, April Barnes and her husband Joe; six great-grandchildren, Geordi Brown, Charlie Carmichael, Abi Brown, Nick Bowden, Chelsey Carmichael and Brendan Barnes.

Pallbearers will be Raeford Gurley, Gene Dail, Chris Brown, Nick Bowden, Charlie Charmichael, and Geordi Brown.
