She was a hard-working woman up until the last year of her life when her declining health kept her from being as active as she had been. In addition to making a home for her family, she loved to work in the yard and grow beautiful flowers. Her love of Christmas was shown every year by the pretty decorations she would put up in her yard.

Among her survivors are her four daughters, Ann Butts and husband, Donnie, of LaGrange, Peggy Watson and husband, Frankie, of Goldsboro, Rose Hinton and husband, Rick, of Princeton, and Brenda Peele of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Diane Strickland, Don Butts, Jimmy Watson, Brad Peele, Chris Peele, and Austin Hinton; 10 great grandchildren, Pam Jessup, Stacie Strickland, Ben Strickland Jr., Cameron Strickland, Katie Watson, Alex Watson, Jesse Watson, Natalie Peele, Layton Peele, and Katie Peele; and three great-great- grandchildren: Ally Strickland, Delaney Jessup, and Luke Jessup. One sister, Thelma Cherry of Wilson, and a brother, William F. Minshew "Junior" Jr. of Stantonsburg.

Although flowers are appreciated, donations may be made to Woods Grove PFWB Church, 4009 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or Home, Health and Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
