VIRGINIA B. HOLZKAMM

Sept. 13, 1932-July 23, 2008

Virginia Bedford Holz-kamm went to her heavenly home on Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer. She was at home under the care of Hospice and surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Ronald Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Virginia "Ginny" Bedford was born on Sept. 13, 1932, in Goldsboro to Dortch and Ella Bedford, the sixth of eight children. She was baptized in the Christian faith and was a dedicated Christian all her life. She loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart. Virginia was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Goldsboro and was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church of Kinston and the LWML until she died. She was united in marriage to Donald "Don" Holzkamm of Hillsboro, N.D., on Dec. 8, 1951. They were blessed with two sons, David Michael and Mark Donald. Don passed away on April 23, 1981, and David on July 20, 2002.

Virginia was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family. Virginia enjoyed friends, traveling, porcelain doll making, collecting beautiful things for her home, crocheting, and all kinds of hand and craft work. She was active in the community as well. She was an officer of Electric Motor Company, finance officer of the Golds-boro City Schools for 18 years, owner and operator of the Sunset Inn and owner of
Sun Set Inn mini mart located in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for
13 years, past president of
the N.C. Association of Educational Office Personnel, the NAEOP, Elks Club, treasurer of the Eastern Wayne County Extension and Community Club for many years, and active in Relay for Life.

Sadly missing her is her son, Mark and wife, Julie Holzkamm of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Bethany and husband, Brandon Hunter, Stephanie and husband, Andrew Kirby, and Gabrielle Holzkamm; her step-grandchildren, Tara Bowe, J.R. Bowe, Elizabeth Smith and Kellie Bowe.

Virginia is also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline Little, Rebecka, Victoria and Eric Holzkamm; her great-grandchildren, Meghan and Jack Hunter, Jacob Kirby; her step-great-grandchildren, Austin and Hailey Smith and Lillian Bowe; her brothers, Johnny Bedford, Willie Bedford and Nathan Bedford; her sister-in-law, Joanne Jones; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Blessed be her memory.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
