Sam McNeill Sr., 79, passed away on Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. G. James Frasher and Dr. Tom Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Sam was born in Sanford, N.C., on Jan. 30, 1929, to the late Archie McNeill and Lottie Wicker McNeill. He was retired machinist from General Electric. Sam was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Sam is survived by his wife, Betty Gilmore McNeill; his son, Sam McNeill Jr. and wife, Vickie of Pikeville; his sister, Annie Mae Lutz of Savannah, Ga.; three grandchildren, Sam McNeill III, Cameron McNeill and Tyler McNeill and fiancée, Crystal Rose.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marcelle Cameron and Ila Caudle.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 2506 Lisa Lane, Goldsboro, N.C.
