CARLISLE PURVIS

May 10, 1990-July 19, 2008

GRANTHAM -- Franklin Carlisle Purvis II, 18, passed away on Saturday as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A service to celebrate Carlisle's life will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Eureka Christian Church, with the Rev. Sherman Dilley and Ricky Joyner officiating. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the cemetery of Eureka Christian Church.

Carlisle was born in Wayne County on May 10, 1990, to the Rev. and Mrs. Frank and Sandy Purvis. He was a 2008 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and was currently employed with Britt Farms. Carlisle was an Eagle Scout of Boy Scout Troop 59 and a member of Eureka Christian Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and had a great love for classic country music. Carlisle got the most pleasure from driving his pickup truck.

In addition to his parents, Carlisle is survived by his sisters, Patricia and Rebekah, of the home; his paternal grandparents, Dalton and Velma Purvis of Hassell; his maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Gladys Holton of New Bern and Bobby and Fay Hancock of Pinnacle; his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Powell Lewis of Vanceboro; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 59, in care of Eureka Christian Church or to the church at 2036 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

Arrangements are being handled by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
