MOUNT OLIVE -- Andrew Vernon Britt, 18, 371 Manley Grove Church Road, died Saturday night, alongside his best friend, Carlisle Purvis, in a motor vehicle accident.

Funeral services for Andrew will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Bryant and the Rev. Carlton Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Andrew was a member of Friendly Holiness Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he was involved with its Crusaders and Men's Fellowship.

A very brilliant young man with a promising future, he was a member of the 2008 graduating class of Southern Wayne Senior High School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He was the FFA secretary for the 2007-08 school year, and he received in 2008, the outstanding member award. He was looking forward to future studies at Campbell University and he had planned a career in pharmacy.

He was an Eagle Scout and was in 2007, a Youth Tour participant with Tri-County Electric. He assisted his father in his produce business at Britt Farms. He was an avid Tar Heel fan, was full of laughter and fun, and his favorite saying was "Git 'er done!"

Andrew is survived by his daddy and mama, Vernon and Jennifer Manning Britt of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle B. and Brian Hope of Mount Olive; his maternal grandma, Joyce Hollowell of Mount Olive; his paternal granddaddy, Jim Britt of Mount Olive; his maternal great-granny, Olive Mae Brock of Kenansville; and several aunts and uncles and their families.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandma, Shelvy Jean Perry; and his great-grandaddy's, Charlie Brock and George Waters.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home from 6 until 9 p.m. today and other times at the Brian and Michelle Hope residence at 1323 Crow's Foot Road, Mount Olive.
