Mrs. Thelma Daly Burgess, 98 died Saturday, July 19, 2008. She was born in Goldsboro, N.C., on Jan. 26, 1910. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James E Burgess, a sister, Beatrice Brinkman, and her brother, Nelson R. Daly.
She is survived by two daughters, Nellie B. Car-michael of Battleboro, and Peggy B. Strickland and husband, John, of Goldsboro N.C.; five grandsons, Bart Car-michael and wife, Tammy, of Raleigh, Tony Carmichael of Battleboro, Todd Carmichael and wife, Patricia, of Battleboro, John Strickland Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Goldsboro, N.C., and Marc Strickland and wife, Nichole, of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren, Cameron Car-michael, Corey and Brittaney Carmichael, John, Katie and Emma Strickland and Samantha and Taylor Carmichael.
The funeral will be held 11 am Monday in the chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cre-mations, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, with the Pastor Adrian Sawyer officiating. The interment will follow in the Battleboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, today from 6 until 8 p.m.
