MOUNT OLIVE -- Philip Elwood Weaver, 65, 240 Jones Turner Road, passed away on Saturday, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

The Weaver family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. today at Tyndall Funeral Home, 1005 N. Church St., Mount Olive and other times at home. A graveside service with the Rev. Sherman Dilley officiating, will be held at Eureka Christian Church cemetery, 2036 Dobbersville Rd., Mount Olive at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

He was born in Johnston County on August 10, 1942, the son of Joe Leslie and Isabel Moore Weaver. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother James Marion Weaver.

Raised in the Wayne County community of Grantham, he was a member of Grantham High School's class of 1960. He was also a member of Northeast Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Olive, most recently serving as treasurer. Mr. Weaver enjoyed a 40-year career in the furniture industry with Myrtle Desk Company in High Point, The Boling Company in Mount Olive, and Calypso Panel in Calypso.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Ann Jones Weaver; son Gary Weaver and wife Ann Davis of Wallace; daughter Annet Weaver Hagwood and husband Jimmie of Wilmington; and granddaughter Meghan Elizabeth Laurin of Wilmington; brother Joe Leslie "J. L." Weaver Jr. and wife Iris of Mount Olive; sisters Linda Weaver Bartlett of Pikeville and Gloria Weaver Gurley and husband Felix of Princeton; half-brother Jay Weaver, of Mount Olive; his mother-in-law Edna Cox Jones Price of Kenansville; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Jones Lawson of Mooresville and Jackie Jones Bridgers and husband Elton Daniels of Raleigh; nephews and nieces Joey Weaver, Chris Weaver, Heather Weaver Hollowell, Michelle Bartlett Hamm, MeLinda Bartlett Edwards, Scarlet Kirby Medlin, Richie Kirby, Jan Lawson Farmer, Jessica Bridgers Standifer and Natalie Bridgers.

Pallbearers will be Joey Weaver, Chris Weaver, Chris Hollowell, Kelly Hamm, Carl Edwards, Chad Medlin and Richie Kirby.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Dr., Goldsboro N.C., 27534.
