Rose Lancaster Evans Webber, 61, 408 Wood Peck Road, Goldsboro, went home to Heaven on Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.

A service to celebrate Rose's life will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at New Hope Friends Church with Bill Garner officiating. The burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 30, 1946 in Patetown and was the daughter of the late Dewey Oscar Lancaster and Elizabeth Lancaster Mobley. She worked at the Wayne County Register of Deeds Office. She was very active in her church and enjoyed spending time with her family, baking her famous chocolate cake, making apple jacks and spoiling her grandson, Robbie.

For those who knew her, Rose will be remembered as a caring, compassionate lady and loyal friend to so many. The love of Rose's life was God, family and friends. Rose was a faithful member of New Hope Friends Church, where she enjoyed working in the nursery caring for the small children. Along with a tireless commitment to help people, Rose volunteered each month delivering Meals on Wheels. She will be missed by many.

Rose is survived by her loving and caring husband, Sidney Webber; her daughter Elizabeth Evans Golimowski and husband, Bob; her step children, John Webber and wife, Elaine, Beverly Pedraza and husband, Hector; her grandchildren, Robbie Joseph Golimowski, the love of her life, and Ashley Evans Allen and husband, Christopher; her step grandchildren, Paula Webber and special friend, Lucas Deaver, Andrew Webber, Amanda Schlaeppi and Caroline Schlaeppi; her sisters, Carolyn Pate, Patsy Bass and husband, Hugh, Linda Hinkson and husband, James, Mary Sasser and husband, Joe; her brothers, Donnie Lancaster, Oliver Lancaster and wife, Bonnie. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, friends and co-workers.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Thomas Evans and her son, John Alan Evans.

Rose loved to receive flowers while here on Earth, but in lieu of flowers at her passing, she wanted a scholarship fund set up for her grandson, Robbie Memorial contributions can be made to the Robbie Golimowski Scholar-ship Fund, c/o BB&T Bank, Attn: Suzanne Best, 207 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
