LAGRANGE -- Alfred John "Al" Meier, 80, of 306 S. Caswell St., died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at his home. Al retired from Duquense Light Company following 44 years of service. He was a member of LaGrange United Methodist Church, worked as a volunteer with Meals On Wheels and was a member of the Society of St. Andrew.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 7 p.m. from LaGrange United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karl Grant officiating.
Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Johan MacKinnon Meier; five children, Victoria Johansson and husband, Mark, of St. Paul, Minn., David Meier of Slippery Rock, Pa., Scott Meier and wife, Dru, of Charlotte, Andrew Meier and wife, Susan, of LaGrange, Gwen Smith and fiancé, Mike Eosso, of LaGrange; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
