MOUNT OLIVE -- Frederick "Fred" Adams Jr., 75, 691 Country Club Road, died Wednesday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steven Wicks officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

He was retired from Franklin Baking Co. with 32 years of service, had been a farmer and attended Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.

He is fondly remembered by his family as being a wonderful husband, father and PaPa. An avid Carolina Tar Heel fan and an Atlanta Braves fan, he and his wife were avid ballroom dancers and a highlight of their dancing memories was the privilege of having danced for a former governor.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Waters Adams of the home; five children and their spouses, Phyllis and Joe Aiton of Goldsboro, Freddie and Betsy Adams of Wilmington, Jimmy and Anita Martin of Goldsboro, Sharon and Kirk Nethercutt of Pikeville and Susan and Van Alphin of Mount Olive; 12 grandchildren, Casey and J.T. Cape, Kyle Aiton, Ross Adams, Rylie Adams, Andrew Martin, Jenna Martin, Cameron Martin, Adam Nethercutt, Eden Nethercutt, Cassie Alphin, Kristin Alphin and Calvin Alphin; and a brother, Jimmy E. Adams of Mount Olive.

He is also survived by a special aunt, Gladys Jackson of Goldsboro, and a special cousin, Billy Jackson and wife, LaRose, of Grantham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred L. and Elizabeth Raynor Adams, and a sister, Joyce A. Bradley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the residence at other times.
