ERNESTINE C. RICE
March 4, 1930-June 17, 2008
Ernestine Clara Arnold Rice, loving mother, grandmother and friend, went to be reunited with her heavenly family Tuesday, June 17, 2008.
Ernestine was born March 4, 1930, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to the late John Samuel Arnold and Bertha Francis Raymond Arnold. She was the eighth child of nine children.
Ernestine retired from civil service after 43 years of service.
She enjoyed her family and friends and her grandson, Sam.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel of Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Rick Mondell of New Life Baptist Church officiating.
She is survived by her brother, William Arnold of Riverside, Utah; her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Joseph Thacker of Pikeville, whom she lived with; her grandson, Samuel Wayne Thacker of Pikeville; a daughter in Christ, Earlene Strickland of Pikeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Robert Porter of Goldsboro; a granddaughter, Jennifer Kent of Colorado; a great-granddaughter, Rebe-kah Colleen Kent of Colorado; and a special friend, Lori Cooper of LaGrange.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.
The family will greet friends following the service Thursday in the mausoleum chapel and other times at 2700 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville.
