JOANNE B. JOYNER

JoAnne Baker Joyner, 54, of 136 Grant Drive, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

JoAnne was born in Chicopee, Mass. on Aug. 14, 1953. She had been a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward and Woolworth Department Store. She was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Ordelt officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

She is survived by her mother, Ann P. Baker who lovingly cared for her during her 24 year battle with multiple sclerosis; her daughter, Melissa Joyner Koos and husband, Eric, of New Bern; her sisters, Kay B. Scheetz of Hampton, Va. and Beth B. Gettle of Goldsboro; her brother, Robert Owen Baker and wife, Karen, of Mount Olive; her grandson, Joseph Ryan Koos; her nieces and nephews, Sara Baker, Alison Baker, Meredith Baker, Lukas Baker, Kelly Gettle and Brett Gettle; many family members from out of town and her loving caregiver, Esther Royal.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Edwin Baker.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 3101 Industrial Drive, Suite 210, Raleigh, N.C. 27609.
