LINWOOD E. ASKEW

ELM CITY -- Linwood Earl Askew, 61, died peacefully in his home Sunday.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peace Free Will Baptist Church in Pinetops, conducted by the Rev. Carroll Bradbury. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville.

He was a member and Deacon of Peace Free Will Baptist Church in Pinetops. Also, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a great fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Meeks Askew; a daughter, Susie Rice and husband, Melvin, of Battleboro; three sons, Tim Askew of Granville County, Dustin Askew of Elm City, Eddie Adams and wife, Lisa, of Fremont; six granddaughters, Kannah Askew of Michigan, Brittany Tedder of Wilson County, Ashley Adams of Fremont, Taylor Adams of Fremont and Katrina Harris of Fayetteville; a grandson, Bradley Rice of Battleboro; two sisters, Terry Askew of Lucama and Geraldine Boykin and husband, McCrae, of Lucama; four brothers, Sam Askew and wife, Winnie Bell, of Farmville, James Askew and wife, Mary, of Greenville, Pete Askew and wife, Wilma, of Wilson and Bud Askew and wife, Faye, of Greenville; a great-niece, Lindsey Mason of Lucama; and a great-nephew, Stone Mason of Lucama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Arthur Askew and Mary Queen Tripp Askew, and a brother, John Askew

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, and at other times at 6239 Bottoms Dairy Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Peace Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1076, Pinetops, N.C. 27864.
