GORDON M. PRICE
Died June 5, 2008
DURHAM -- Mr. Gordon McRoy Price Jr., 77, died Thursday morning at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at Parkwood Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Marty Mangum. Burial will take place Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Pineview Cemetery in LaGrange, N.C., with the Rev. Phillip Garrett officiating.
The family will receive visitors immediately following the memorial service at Parkwood Baptist Church.
Mr. Price was born and raised in Seven Springs, N.C. He attended the Seven Springs public schools and graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
He was employed as a financial analyst with IBM for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Mr. Price was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, where he served as the church book keeper for many years. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop No. 495.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Ida Garren Price of the home; sons, David Price and his wife, Karen, of London, England; Gary Price and his wife, Lisa, of Durham, N.C.; grandson, Aidan Price; step-grandchildren, Tori, Ashley, Casey and Ali; brother, C.C. Price and his wife, Ann, of Seven Springs, N.C.; and special friends Charlie, Sue, Dennis and Chuck Neufeld.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, CB# 7295, Chapel Hill, N.C., 27599-7295.
The Price family is under the care of Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home.
