LAWRENCE SIMMONS

Lawrence "Larry" Simmons was born July 18, 1942, in Dudley, N.C., to Mary Simmons Aldridge and the late Ellie Simmons Sr. He departed this life suddenly, May 31, 2008, in Washington, D.C.
The funeral will be held Saturday, June 7, at 1 p.m. at First Congrega-tional United Church of Christ, Sleepy Creek Road, Dudley, N.C. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ellie Simmons Sr., and a sister Evangeline Simmons Mitchell.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Mary Simmons Aldridge; five sisters, Delores Lorease Johnson, Andra Barbara Aldridge, Veronica V. Fennell (Ralph), Glenda Bryant (Carl) and Consuela Baker (Horace); four brothers, Ellie Simmons Jr., Elmer Simmons, Edward C. Simmons (Margaret), and Attorney James Aldridge Jr. (Irene); an uncle, Willie Russell Southerland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of Delores Lorease Johnson, 100 Lorease Drive, Wallwood Estates, Dudley, N.C.
Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home.
