WILLIE J. JOHNSON

Willie James Johnson, the son of the late Frank and Mable Ward Johnson, was born on March 16, 1937, in Goldsboro. He departed this earthly life on May 22 at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his son, James "Pete" Johnson, and son-in-law, Charles Barbour.
He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn; his children, the Rev. Dr. Michael Johnson, the Rev. Larry Johnson, Cynthia Reynolds, Derrick Johnson, Willie Johnson Jr., Valerie Barbour, Sharon Wilson, Edward Wilson, Keith Wilson, Pastor Cynthia Brazelton and Bruce Wilson; 31 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Johnson Dillard; a foster sister, Maggie Lewis; an aunt, Geraldine Hawthorne; and a host of other family members and friends.
His viewing will take place on Friday at noon until the service at 1 p.m. at Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association Building. Interment will be in Old Mill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton Funeral Home.
