WILLIE RAYMOND PRIDGEN

Willie Raymond Pridgen, 64, of 392 Piedmont Road, was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Homegoing Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at St. Delight United Holiness Church in the Parkstown Community with Pastor Devin Pickett officiating and Apostle Norbert E. Simmons presiding. Interment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.

He was the son of the late John Daily and Rosa Pridgen. He was born in Greene County on Nov. 22, 1943.

Willie was a hard worker and retired from Goldsboro Housing Authority after 25 years as a painter. Willie also was a great cook, "known for his tasty barbecue sauce and pig cooking." He also loved to fish, collect coins, work in his yard and build furniture. He was good with his hands. He loved music and enjoyed singing in the male choir at St. Delight United Holiness Church, where he was a member for many years until his health failed. Willie also enjoyed spending time with his family and he adored his nine wonderful grandchildren.

Willie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Scarlet Pridgen of the home; four children, Ronnie Wooten and wife, Felicia, Andra Pridgen, Janice Mathis and husband, Tyrone, and Angela Floyd and husband, William, all of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Deandra Mathis, Kwa-Weisha Floyd, Lakenya Wooten, Destiny Floyd, Devon Pridgen, Jazmine Mathis, Dymond Floyd, Niya Wooten and Destiny Mason, all of Goldsboro; three brothers, Leroy Pridgen and wife, Joyce of Goldsboro, Johnny Pridgen of Smithfield, and Larry Pridgen and wife, Bertha of Dudley; three sisters, Sylvia Pridgen of East Orange, N.J., Ceola Best and husband, Richard of Goldsboro, and Blonnie Parks and husband, Leamon of LaGrange; one sister-in-law, Lena Parks and husband, John of LaGrange; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tymeeshia Mathis.

The family will receive friends at the home, at 392 Piedmont Road.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries in Goldsboro.
