DONALD HICKS

Carlton Donald Hicks, 69, of 126 Hicks Road, died Thursday evening at his home.

Donald was born in Wayne County on Oct. 24, 1938, to the late James Wesley Hicks Sr. and Juanita Williams Hicks. He had worked as a deputy sheriff and as a magistrate for Wayne County before retiring as a farmer. Donald had served his country in the United States Army.

The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pikeville Cemetery, with military honors.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Donna Hicks Sullivan of Pikeville, Linda Hicks Coston and husband, James, of Pikeville, and Kathy Hicks Bennett and husband, David, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Joshua Sullivan, Jeremy Sullivan, Justin Coston and Nicholas Coston; his sister, Joan Kearney and husband, Ronnie, of Goldsboro; and his sister-in-law, Ruby Hicks of Goldsboro. He is also survived by his special friend, Ms. Frankie Braswell of Stantonsburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, the Rev. James W. Hicks Jr.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
