PENINA C. APPLEWHITE

Penina C. Applewhite, 67, of 300 Hollowell St., Goldsboro, died Friday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
She was the daughter of the late Leroy and Annie G. Coley and leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Teretha Uzzell and husband, Quintin; and one son, Handy Applewhite Jr., and wife, Michele, all of Goldsboro. Other survivors include six grandchildren, including Lauretta Uzzell, who she reared, Raimondi Applewhite, Quincina Wooten, Dwayne, Monte, and Dorian Applewhite; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillie Mae Harris and Rosetta Mckinney.
The funeral will be Monday, May 5, 2008, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Author Evans officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Lightner Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
