Anne Brown Anderson, 63, a resident of the Pines, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A service of love and rememberance will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev. Martin Armstrong will officiate.

Mrs. Anderson was born on Aug. 25, 1944, in Red Springs, N.C. to the late Harry Hale and Brownie Irene Russell Brown, one of two children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Sonny Brown; and by her husband, Melvin Etheridge Anderson.

Anne and Melvin did not have any biological children; however, in her employment in the Wayne County school system where they both worked, Anne and Melvin were blessed with many loving children.

Anne and Melvin through their employment in the 1970's met Jerry and Margaret Wells who became family to the Andersons. She also leaves to cherish special friends, Julie and L.J. Potts of Goldsboro and Eunice Massengill of Goldsboro.

Anne was a graduate of Appalachian State and also from East Carolina University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Delta Lambda Chapter and the Professional Education Sorority. Anne was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and a member of the North Carolina Exchangetts Club where she served as former President. Anne was also a member of the Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce. She most recently, was a guidance counselor for the Wayne County school system. Anne was a member of the Wayne County Guidance Counselor Association.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to New Hope United Methodist Church, 200 E. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or to the American Cancer Society Meadow Lane Relay for Life Team Luminaries in memory of Anne Anderson, c/o Eunice Massengill, 3500 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Jerry and Margaret Wells, 1301 W. New Hope Road in Goldsboro.
