GROVER M. GODWIN

Grover Michael Godwin, 63, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at home in Currie, N.C.

The family will receive friends this evening (Thurs-day) from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Ceme-tery in Princeton.

Mr. Godwin was born in Wayne County on Oct. 27, 1944, to the late Armied Adolphus Godwin Sr. and Thelma Blackburn Godwin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marines where he served in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara B. Godwin; one son, Michael Godwin of Golds-boro; one stepson, Frank Pittman and his wife, Leslie, of Four Oaks; one stepdaughter, Pam Chase and her husband, Robbie, of Pikeville; one brother-in-law, Hubert Hill of Goldsboro; three grandsons; three step-grandsons and three step-granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Armied Adolphus "Mickey" Godwin Jr. and Wilma Godwin; and his sister, Barbara Hill.
