THOMAS JOSEPH UNDERWOOD JR.
Thomas Joseph Underwood Jr., 61, of 101 Spring St., passed away Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Celebration of life service will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Internment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Underwood was born in Johnston County on April 2, 1947, to the late Thomas Joseph Underwood Sr. and Mary Price Underwood.
He was a member of Lane Tree Golf Club, Goldsboro Jaycees, N.C.T.M.A. and the American Yarn Association. Mr. Underwood served as a member and officer with the American Institute of Industrial Engineers and he was an International Director and officer for the Data Processing Manager Association. Mr. Underwood served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Borden Manufacturing as a vice president of Administration.
Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife, Vicki Underwood; one son, Thomas Underwood III and his wife, Sarah, of Goldsboro; one daughter, Wendy Underwood Kelly and her husband, Gary, of Rosewood; two step-daughters, Cheryl Koger and her husband, Kevin, of Goldsboro, Kaitlyn Williams of Washington, N.C.; two brothers, Ted Underwood and his wife, Judy, of Selma, Glen Ferguson and his wife, Rita, of Mar Mac; his stepmother, Dottie Underwood of Golds-boro; five grandchildren, Stormy Kelly, Tyler Underwood, Nash Koger, Sawyer Underwood, Savannah Kelly; and special friends of the family, Teresa Hobelman of Rosewood, Archie Archambault and his wife, Audrey, of Goldsboro, Keith Gunnet and wife, Susan, of Goldsboro.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his stepson, Grant Williams.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the residence.
