DAVID D. DOWNEY

LOUISBURG -- David D. Downey, 72, formerly of Goldsboro, died Thursday morning at University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Downey. He was a retired master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force.
A private memorial service will be held.
Mr. Downey is survived by his wife, June H. Downey; his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jonnie Downey of High Point, Michael and Angie Downey of Goldsboro; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Chris Petty of Goldsboro; six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his special pets, Fred, Buckwheat and Ben.
