EDWARD PHILLIPS

Aug. 22, 1932-April 9, 2008

Master Sgt. Edward Phillips, Retired U.S.A.F., 75, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday at his home.

Mr. Phillips was born in Livingston County, Mich., to the late Henry Luther Phillips and Bessie Harrison Phillips. He retired with 26 years of service from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Mr. Phillips attended Adamsville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Wiggins and the Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Joyce "Trellis" Zittrouer Phillips; his children, Deborah Jean Phillips Coates and husband, Everett, of Clayton, Michael Edward Phillips and wife, Blanche, of Fuquay-Varina; his grandchildren, Heather Elizabeth Coates, Emily Grace Coates, Justin Michael Phillips, Alyssa Brooke Phillips; his sister, Ilene Monroe of Michigan; and his brother, Merle Phillips of Montana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Phillips; and several brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607 (designated for a mission church) or to Adamsville Baptist Church Mission Program, 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 104 Park Place, Goldsboro.
