DAPHNE EASON RAINES

HIGH POINT -- Mrs. Daphne Eason Raines, 78, resident of Pennybyrn at Maryfield, died Friday, April 4, at the High Point Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Raines was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Johnston County, a daughter to Alphonso and Blannie Hinnant Eason. She was a registered nurse and worked at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1992. A Goldsboro resident for many years, following her retirement she moved to Winston-Salem where she lived 11 years and for the past five years has lived in High Point. While living in Goldsboro, she was a member of the Adamsville Baptist Church, and upon moving to High Point she became a member of the Brentwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Raines was married to John Raines who preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Eason.

Surviving are two children, Susan Parks and husband, Randy, of Clemmons; and John B. Raines and wife, Cora, of Southport; seven grandchildren, Sarah Parks, Alex Parks, David Raines, Melissa Raines, Ranier Estigoy, Richard Estigoy and Christine Estigoy; three great-grandchldren, Christian, Cora and Chloe Raines; one sister, Joyce Johnson; and one brother, Wyatt Eason and wife, Judy, all of Corinth-Holders.

The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Brentwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Scott officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in the Corinth-Holders community in Johnston County.

Memorials may be directed to the Brentwood Baptist Church, 2426 Gordon Road, High Point, N.C. 27265, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
