HELEN M. ANDERSON

Helen McClenny Anderson, 85, of 229 S. Spence Ave., died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Wayne County, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William "Hank" Anderson.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Wayne County to the late John Anders McClenny and Maggie Bartlett McClenny. Mrs. Anderson was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She served in the U.S. Naval Service and discharged under honorable conditions the 19th day of March 1945.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Mausoleum Chapel in Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Thurman Horney, associate pastor, St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will follow the service.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Penny" Anderson of Inwood, W.Va.; a son, William Fred Anderson of Fredericksburg, Va. Her son, Robert "Bobby" Lionel Anderson Jr., preceded her death. She is also survived by a stepson, James "Buddy" W. Anderson III of Florida; a stepdaughter, Tonya O'Riley and husband, Eddie, of South Carolina; a stepdaughter, Theresa Franklin and husband, David, of Florida; and several grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Seymour Funeral Home.
