PRINCETON -- Mary Jane Moore Daughtry, 89, died Monday at Johnston Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.

A native of Johnston County, she was born to the late Lonnie D. Moore and Betty Caroline Lawhorn Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Charlie Hubert Daughtry; her children, Ivor Jean and James Raeford Daughtry; and siblings, Leslie Moore, Fannie M. Capps and Zelda M. Daughtry.

Mrs. Daughtry was a long-time member of Riverside Free Will Baptist Church where she served as treasurer, was active with the Ladies Auxiliary, and taught Sunday school for 18 years. In recent years, she attended and was a member of Progressive Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Daughtry, fondly known to many as "Granny" was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent countless hours cooking and preparing meals ministering to her family, friends and shut-ins. Mrs. Daughtry's greatest treasures were her unrelenting faith in God and her selfless love for family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Casey Funeral Home, 105 E. First St., Princeton. with the Rev. Gene Britt and the Rev. Percy Coleman officiating. Committal services will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

Mrs. Daughtry is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Betty D. Britt and husband, the Rev. Gene B. Britt, Melva D. Casey, all of Princeton; grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Martha Casey, Twyla Casey Wells, all of Princeton, Gene and Vicky Britt of Greenville, Tim and Kim Britt of Asheboro; great-grandchildren, John and Caroline Wells of Princeton, Christian, Will and Emma Grace Britt of Asheboro.
