W. CARSON HAWKINS

Jan. 21, 1928-March 15, 2008

Willis Carson Hawkins, 80, a resident of the Pines, went to be with his Lord on Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Carson was born in Wilson County to the late Robert Lee Hawkins and Lillie McCoy Johnson Hawkins. He was the retired owner and operator of Hawkins Service Center in Goldsboro. Carson was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and in the bus ministry for more than 30 years.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Rex Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Carson is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth Gurley Hawkins; his sons, Donald C. Hawkins and wife, Vickie, of Goldsboro, Kenneth F. Hawkins and wife, Kathy, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Beth Hawkins Spence and husband, William, Lesley Hawkins Voeller and husband, Brian; and his great-grandchildren, Dail Spence, Karsen Spence, Cooper Voeller, Hayden Voeller and Bailey Voeller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randell Hawkins.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the building fund at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 1200 W. Grantham St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
