MAYNARD MORRIS WADE

HOOKERTON -- Maynard Morris Wade, 65, passed away at his home Wednesday following a courageous battle with cancer. Maynard was a native of Greene County, born the only son of six children to Hugh and Ruth Oliver Wade. He attended Maury School and was a graduate of Greene Central High School. Maynard had a great love for wildlife, especially, birds, gardening and animals. He was a very devoted father to his daughters, and "Pa" to his five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Rev. Don Ribeiro officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, Maynard was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet W. Wade.

His surviving family includes his daughters, Lisa Wade Basden and husband, Lee, of Seven Springs, Dena Wade Whaley of Hookerton, Tiffany Wade Faulkner and husband, Cliff, of Hookerton; sisters, Sally W. Thearling and husband, Glen, of Wilmington, Elaine W. McLawhorn and husband, Buddy, of Ayden, Carol W. Fulford of Winterville, Linda W. Morgan and husband, Ronnie, of Scuffleton; and grandchildren, Nicole Basden, Brandon Whaley, Dylan Whaley, C.J. Faulkner and Justin Faulkner.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 1350 Loop Road, Hookerton, N.C. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to United Hospice, P.O. Box 201, Farmville, N.C. 27828. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care provided to Mr. Wade by Dr. Heather White, Dr. Don Ribeiro and Susanne Allison with United Hospice.
