JOSEPH F. HOWE

Jan. 12, 1958- March 11, 2008

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- Joseph F. Howe, 50, passed away Tuesday unexpectedly at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born in Elmira, N.Y., the son of the late Angeline Cecce and William J. Howe Sr.

Joe was employed with Simmons-Rockwell in Big Flats and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn; children, Buffy Little of Cortland, N.Y., Shannon Howe, Joseph Howe Jr. and Heidi Howe, all of Elmira, Heather Brill, Raquel Brill and Kalika Osgood, all of Pine Valley, Caleb Osgood of Big Flats; seven grandchildren, Emilee, Tylor, Logan, Zoey, Braden, Jayden and Kyli; siblings and their spouses, Mary and James Patterson of Mount Olive, Barbara and Eric Sturm of Goldsboro, William Jr. and LouAnn Howe of Pine City, Michael and Debra Howe of Elmira , Debra and Steven VanZile of Elmira, Dominic and Deborah Howe of Horseheads, Jean Ann and Timothy Wolfe of Wellsburg; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Joyce Shutt of Simpsonville, S.C.; and a brother-in-law, Terry Shutt of Las Vegas, N.V.

It was Joseph's request that there be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend his graveside service with military honors Thursday, March 13, at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis St., Elmira. Deacon William Dougherty will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Joseph through donations to Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care, 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning, N.Y. 14830.
