NETTIE A. SIMMONS
March 17, 1916-March 5, 2008
Nettie Austin Simmons, 91, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Sis," died Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by three of her children.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Dean Austin. Nettie was married to the late William L. Simmons Sr. She is survived by two sons, William Simmons Jr. (Othman Fareed) of Philadelphia, Pa., Jerry Simmons and wife, Lillie, of Goldsboro, N.C.; two daughters, Faye Brown and husband, Marvin, Annette Fullen and husband, Allen, of Goldsboro, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. from the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 318 Denmark St., Goldsboro, N.C. with the Rev. Arthur Evans Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, U.S. 117 Highway South. A viewing will be conducted on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., from 2 to 6 p.m. At other times, the family will be receiving friends at 1610 S. Taylor St., Willow Run, Goldsboro, N.C.
